Walter Mercado Salinas, also known by his stage name Shanti Ananda, was a Puerto Rican astrologer, actor, dancer, and writer, best known as a television personality for his shows as an astrologer. Mercado's career as an astrologer began in 1969 when a guest did not show up for an appearance on a Telemundo program!
Mercado was born at sea on a ship traveling from Spain to Puerto Rico on March 9, 1932, according to a biography published by Puerto Rico's Foundation for Popular Culture. He was raised in Ponce, Puerto Rico. His astrological predictions show aired for decades in Puerto Rico, Latin America, and the United States. His impact and efforts affected and pop culture households across the globe, his love and messages will live forever
