Born in Manoguayabo, Dominican Republic, Pedro became one of the most dominant pitchers of his generation — a three-time Cy Young Award winner known for his precision, intensity and fearlessness on the mound.
On September 10, 1999, Pedro walked into Yankee Stadium and struck out 17 Yankees while allowing just one hit and no walks. Against a New York team in the middle of a dynasty, it remains one of the defining performances of his career.
